MacWire tests Plaud Note Pro, with a perfect 5/5 score
"Plaud Note Pro might just be the best gadget you have ever bought." That's the opening verdict from MacWire's Petter Ahrnstedt — and his full review delivers on that promise with a perfect 5/5 score.
On the surface, Note Pro looks nearly identical to its predecessor — the same credit-card dimensions, the same magnetic MagSafe attachment, the same 112-language AI transcription. But the real magic is in what it does without being asked. Where the original Plaud Note requires manually selecting a recording mode, Note Pro automatically detects whether you're in a meeting or on a call and adapts instantly. Ahrnstedt calls this "the difference between using a tool and not having to think about it at all" — a small thing that turns out to be enormous.
Audio quality is the other standout leap. Four AI-driven beamforming microphones lock onto whoever is speaking, cutting through ventilation noise, rustling paper, and squeaking chairs. Ahrnstedt highlights this as especially impressive in large lecture halls, making it an outstanding tool for university students.
Battery life stretches from the original's 30 hours up to an impressive 50 hours on Note Pro. A compact built-in display and a dedicated bookmark button for flagging key moments mid-recording complete the package — small additions that Ahrnstedt says you won't want to live without once you've used them.
The companion app receives glowing praise. A 55-minute interview was transcribed, summarized, and delivered as a Word document in just minutes — handling Swedish, English, and strong accents without missing a beat. Users receive 300 free transcription minutes per month, with flexible top-up options available from 39 kr for 120 minutes.
The only caveat is the annual subscription cost for heavy users — though Ahrnstedt is quick to note that Note Pro will save professionals weeks of work over time, making it well worth it.
A perfect 5/5 rating.
